From 1 March 2020 new clergy and lay volunteers in a parish where a licence or authority is required should also have a Volunteer AgreementYou should review the policy on volunteers and churchworkers.

Application for ministry as a VOLUNTARY CHURCH WORKER (AGED 18+) on the first occasion of appointment or re-appointment

From 1 March 2020 new voluntary church workers should also have a Volunteer Agreement. The Parish should also arrange a National Register Check through the Diocesan Office by completing the National Register Check For Lay Ministry

RENEWAL OF MINISTRY where the person has PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED A SAFE MINISTRY CHECK FORM approved by the General Synod

Where a person has previously completed a Safe Ministry Check Form (that has been approved by the General Synod) and are seeking a renewal of a licence, permission or other appointment they need only complete the Application Form

Copies of the application form for all licensed appointments will be retained by the Diocesan Office. Copies of forms for parish based volunteer workers are to be retained by the Parish. An electronic copy may be lodged with the Diocesan Office.


LIMITED PERMISSION TO OFFICIATE

The Bishop used to offer a limited Permission to Officiate to clergy aged over 80 to undertake ministry in the presence of another priest who has been subject to full clearances and has completed the required Safe Ministry Training. This form of permission is no longer available.


RETIRED AND IN GOOD STANDING

The Diocese will maintain and publish a list of clergy who have retired, do not seek a licence or permission for ministry, and remain in good standing.
