Two selfless and dedicated volunteers have been recognised for their work in the local community with Citizen of the Year awards.
Gail Allen, from Scone Anglican Church, was honoured as the 2026 Upper Hunter Citizen of the Year.
Gail has devoted significant time at St Luke’s Church, where her organisational skills shine. During the annual church fair – a major event on the calendar – Gail manages the kitchen and catering and coordinates volunteers to ensure everything runs smoothly.
She has also made an exceptional contribution to the Scone and District Cancer Support Group, where she provides comfort and help to countless individuals and families, and often aids the Scone Legacy and Scone Men’s Probus Club during functions or events.

In the Dungog Shire, Gillian Finch was named Joint Citizen of the Year for her long-standing volunteer work at St John’s Op Shop, Clarence Town.
As the Op Shop Coordinator, Gillian offers kindness, generosity, and care to residents and visitors.
Her dedication continues to make a meaningful difference across the local community.
