Bulahdelah & Tea Gardens Farewell

The Rev’d Denis Kirkaldy farewell from the Parish of Bulahdelah & Tea Gardens was held on Sunday 5th November 2017. Denis has been our locum for 18 months.  Presentations were made to Denis from St Andrew’s of a water colour of our beautiful waterways, painted by Patricia Pritchard, local artist and parishioner and Wal Spencer wrote a poem about Denis, read it and then presented it to Denis. St John’s parishioners also made a presentation of fruit trees to plant in his new home and a breadboard to help Denis with his cooking. Robyn Guthrie and Ross Weightman, both Rector’s wardens thanked Denis and Nancy for their time with us and thanked him for his ministry, friendship and fellowship during this time. All our parishioners will miss him and wish him God’s blessing.

Anglican Women

Anglican Women are thrilled to advise that the giving through their ‘Thank You Boxes’ over the last year to assist Kairos Outside for Women (KOW) in the Hunter, has amounted to $7,500. At Kairos Ouside weekends for women who have a family member in prison, guests find a safe environment, a listening ear, encouragement, support and love. Thank you to all who have supported this initiative. The current Thank You Box focus is to help with funds for the program for the early detection of breast cancer at the Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza, which is owned by the Diocese of Jerusalem. The Revd Jan Deaves, Chaplain for Kairos Outside for Women-Hunter, has advised that they “are delighted with our donation of $7,500, which  will enable 15 ladies to attend a weekend!”

This Week at Maitland

There has been a lot happening at the Maitland Parish in the past week. MumsNext (Mums of School-age kids) met for friendship, support, and inspiration. This month they discussed using the dark times in our life to fuel our creativity, and began making some gorgeous Christmas decorations. Also Let’s Sing & Play came together for some fun. Plus, photos from the All Saints/All Souls service and the induction of new Mother’s Union members last Sunday.

Remembrance Day at Denman

The Parish of Denman joined in at a wonderful Remembrance Day service at Sandy Hollow Public School. Andrew did a great job as MC as did all the students who spoke about what Remembrance Day means to them and all those who laid poppies in memory of the fallen. We will remember them. Lest we forget.

This week at Denman

The Parish of Denman celebrated the 90th birthday of parishioner Joyce. She is pictured here with her 92 year old sister. Plus Team Denman Youth came together for a great night of games and catching up.
