This Week Around the Diocese
Scone Parish celebrates with a Teddy Bear’s Picnic
Families Together is a monthly service with a child focus followed by craft and lunch. Recently everyone was invited to bring their Teddies for a Picnic. We learnt about Peter “the rock” and then followed the service with teddy bear games and a picnic in the hall. Everyone had a lovely time, especially the teddy’s who had their own tables. Families together is held the 3rd Sunday of each month at 11am and is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to families in our community.
Faith in Action at Parish of Branxton Greta Lochinvar
This week Mother Jane bundled up 18 bags of goodies and packed them into 18 boxes to be sent off to members of Australia’s Defence Force serving overseas. “Many thanks to the parishioners who contributed to the bounty and who took the time and made the effort to write letters! Every parcel contained a hand written note.” This is what generosity and hospitality look like.
School Holiday Fun at BTAC
It may be school holidays but the fun never stops at the Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College OOSH who bounced into the first day of the holidays with a trip to Revolution. They had an amazing time on the trampolines and inflatables. What better way to start the holidays! If you would like to join in the fun for Vacation Care be sure to contact firstname.lastname@example.org to ask about our program and availability.
Mission To Seafarers Ship Visiting
The intrepid Mission To Seafarers “Ship Visitors” Dave and Julianne enjoy meeting seafarers in their “home” (ship). “It’s always good to catch up with the crew on their ship in case they aren’t able to come ashore. As you can see from Dave’s posture, ship visiting is not for the faint-hearted or unfit!”
Cathedrals and Cranes
Cathedral Tower works near completion. This week there was a crane on site to lift the new balustrade onto the tower … another step towards ensuring that the tower is safe for visitors.
Barney’s Club Craft at Mt Vincent and Weston
Barney’s Club had a great last meet for Term 1 with indoor frisbee, play dough creations and a yummy afternoon tea followed by a Palm Sunday storybook and making donkey puppets. Plis the Apis Te, Teen youth group, ventured out to Beresfield for the Stations of the Cross and shared in some delicious Birthday cheesecake.
Collectors Care for a Cause
Samaritans held their Collectors Care Art Exhibition last week at Newcastle Art School.
Big Boss Cook Off
Every Anglican Care event needs a great MC and Barry McKibbin did an outstanding job of keeping the Anglican Care Master Chefs CEO Colin Osborne and Gerard Bowen Manager Property Services, along with the residents and friends, as pictured Joy and Frank, entertained.
RAAF Williamtown National Day of Prayer
We held our National Day of Prayer for Defence at RAAF Williamtown on March 29. It was a great opportunity for local church attendees to better appreciate our base military culture, connect with base leaders and Christians, and pray for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and local RAAF Williamtown needs.
