Parish of Stroud

A group of parishioners gathered on November 12 for Dr Jonathon King’s Remembrance Day presentation of his film The Western Front. Plus pictures from the Stroud Monastery AGM and activities. “Stroud Anglican Parish has a number of people serving on the Friends of the Stroud Monastery committee. Today’s AGM was followed by Brother Alfred SSF leading a tour of the local environment, identifying trees and plants on the Monastery and Hermitage property. Later in the day were opportunities for drumming and sketching. Greatly enjoyable and creative day at this spiritually nurturing holy place.”

Parish of Scone

Another service was celebrated at Stewart’s Brook Union church in the Scone parish on the last Sunday in October. The Rector of Scone Angela Dutton celebrated communion with the congregation from the surrounding area of Stewart’s Brook. This church was closed in the mid 1990’s and was revived in 2007 with over a 100 person service. In 2012 it celebrated its 100th anniversary after being externally renovated and in 2017 it will celebrate 10 years since its reopening. The faithful congregation have also steadily redecorated the interior from its bare state and is looking forward to a promising future for this resilient little country church which has served the local community well since the days of the gold rush that the area was known for at the time it was built.
