Last Saturday, 30 November, the Diocese celebrated the ordination of Reverends Jesse Baker, Melanie Whalley, Zeb McKrell and Angela Peverell. Bishop Peter shared the following words:

“It was wonderful to have people from the length and breadth of the Diocese in the Cathedral on Saturday to celebrate the ordination of Jesse, Melanie, Zeb and Angela. There was a great sense of Diocesan family encouraging these new priests and the places that they will serve.”

“Each ordination there is usually something that stays with me, in addition to the privilege of laying on hands with prayer. This year there was something about the way we prayed the ‘Veni Creator Spiritus’ together that gave me a sense of bishops, clergy and people praying that our souls may be inspired and lit with the heavenly fire.”

“We are all grateful for the ministry of the Cathedral at these events. The introduction of refreshments for those who had travelled a long way was well received.”
