Our recent church fete at St Matthew’s Georgetown in September featured something new.

As well as our regular stalls and refreshments, we set up a ‘prayer tree’ and invited everyone who came to write a prayer on a paper leaf.

The leaves were then tied to the tree, turning dead branches into something green and beautiful. More than 80 people wrote prayers and many made very positive comments about the experience.

The Sunday after the fete, we brought the tree into our worship service. During prayer time, the congregation had an opportunity to write their own prayers and add them to the tree, and to pray that God would bless the people of our local community.
