On Friday 30th June 2017, at 7pm in Christ Church Cathedral, Amanda Brockwell, Greg Colby, Melinda McMahon, and Helen Quinn will be ordained Deacon.
This afternoon they joined Bishop Peter Stuart, the Very Rev’d Stephen Williams, the Rev’d Canon Katherine Bowyer, and Sue Williams for their Ordination rehearsal.
At the conclusion of the rehearsal, Amanda, Greg, Melinda and Helen shared some thoughts on their upcoming ordination.
“For me it’s not just about a step towards priesthood, it’s about a deeper step into servanthood for the church the community,” Greg said.
“It’s an important step of responsibility in bearing the name of Jesus Christ, and ministering in his name in the school community where I’m currently placed,” Melinda said.
“For me it is a public formalisation of my enduring commitment to follow Jesus wherever I’m called,” Amanda said.
“For me it’s a further commitment to acknowledging Jesus Christ and going into the Aboriginal community to spread his news and hopefully make a difference,” Helen added.
Following the rehearsal the ordinations will be on retreat at Anawin at Wangi Wangi. The Very Rev’d Stephen Williams is leading the retreat.
Amanda is currently based in Dungog parish, Greg in Belmont parish, Melinda is part of the chaplaincy team at Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College, and Helen in the parish of Forster – Tuncurry.
Please pray for and with them as they prepare for their ordination. All are welcome to attend the Ordination.
