The Morpeth Lecture took place at Christ Church Cathedral last night, Tuesday 5 June.
The keynote speaker was Professor Juliana Claassens who spoke on a scriptural approach to gender-based violence. Her theme was The Case of the Trafficked Princesses (Jer 40-44): Trauma Hermeneutics as Pedagogical Tool for Teaching on Gender-Based Violence.
The lecture series was founded to bring theological engagement into the issues of contemporary life and is today a strong partnership between Anglican Church Newcastle and the University of Newcastle.
Bishop Peter Stuart opened the Morpeth Lecture, and Emeritus Professor Terry Lovat and Professor Catharine Coleborne welcomed Professor Juliana Claassens to Newcastle.
