From 1 March 2020 reporting child abuse will be a legal requirement for clergy and church workers in NSW. This follows amendments to the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998 (Care Act) which expand mandatory reporter groups and also provides greater protections for reporters.
The Parish Safety Policy has been updated to reflect these changes. It is timely for people to review the Safe Ministry Policy. Training in mandatory reporting can be accessed online.
