Shared meals, banners, yarn bombing and a choir are among the creative ideas being used to mark Hope25 by the East Lake Macquarie Anglican Church Ambassadors.

What commenced as a gathering of prayer and reflection has since grown into a smorgasbord of ideas and a unique splash of colour.

The outcomes are the handiwork of a group of ten passionate parishioners, their efforts months in the making.

The team consists of parishioners from Belmont, Windale, and Swansea.

Group chair, Helen Edwards, says the process has been a labour of love.

“The idea of developing some community meals was raised last year, and in January we hosted our first meal to gain a better understanding of the needs of the community.

“It went very well, offering not just food but company to many in the community.”

A similar event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 11th June when Hope25 wraps up.

From food-sharing to visual prompts, the group of ambassadors also opted to share its message on a large scale, creating both internal and exterior displays.

Two calico banners were hung on the walls of the church hall.

The creations feature a total of 70 squares each filled with words describing what hope means to parishioners across the diocese.

At All Saints Anglican Church Belmont brightly coloured knitted lengths help spread the powerful message of hope with passersby.

Circles, stripes, squares in a rainbow of colours are now wrapped around the church hall veranda rails, the yarn bombing a cheerful reminder for Church Street onlookers.

As a final piece of the puzzle, the Hope25 ambassadors are looking to establish the HOPE Singers, a small group of voices who will come together at special events to share the message of Hope in song.
