Celebrating NAIDOC Week from 8-15 July 2018

The NAIDOC Week 2018 theme – Because of Her, We Can!

As pillars of our society, Aboriginal women have played – and continue to play – active and significant roles in the community. They are our mothers, our elders, our grandmothers, our aunties, our sisters and our daughters.

Our guest speaker Aunty Brenda Mathews will share her story, of being stolen from her Aboriginal family five years after the NSW Government changed its official policy. Brenda will tell how her voice along with many other women demanded they have a better life, greater opportunities and in many cases equal rights for our children, our families and our people.

You are invited to join us to celebrate the beginning of NAIDOC week at Christ Church Cathedral, Church St, Newcastle on 8 July from 3.00 to 4.30pm.

Commencing with a smoking ceremony to lead us into the service, followed by soup and damper.

Date: Sunday 8 July
Time: 3pm – 4.30pm
Venue: Christ Church Cathedral
