Coronavirus Update – Churches in the Diocese to be fully closed (Updated refer to 23 March – Number 2)
23 March – Number 1
Updated – refer to 23 March Number 2
- Churches in the Diocese to be fully closed
- No recording of church services in churches
Last week I gave permission for churches to make space for people to enter and pray.
The personal distancing requirements of the government now require that all church buildings be fully closed. This takes effect from Noon today, or earlier if more convenient.
Please do not use church buildings for ministry at this time including recording worship for streaming. There is ambiguity in the government’s stipulations but the intention to avoid gathering is clear. The General Synod Office is seeking clarity for us. I will let you know what ministry is permissible.
The service of Morning Prayer which was streamed from the Cathedral today was recorded earlier.
