Raymond Terrace Parish welcomed Father Stephen Niland at a commissioning held on December 4 at St John’s.
The appointment will almost be a home coming for Fr Stephen, as they raised their family in East Maitland. He will move into the rectory with wife, Marea.
In his posting to Raymond Terrace Fr. Niland hoped to restore stability.
“Initially, I want to get to know the people and the area, not just the people in the church but the wider community,” he said.
“It’s difficult after a vacancy of this time.”
“We’ll come to the parish, settle in and talk to people about which direction they would like us to go.”
