Parishes around the diocese have come together to commence services in the lead up to Anzac Day this Wednesday.

Wednesday’s Anzac Day commemoration marks the 103rd anniversary of the first major military operations fought by Australia and New Zealand along the beaches of Gallipoli.


Nelson Bay

All Saints Nelson Bay held a special Anzac Sunday Service to commemorate our Anzacs on Sunday 22 April.

Terrigal

The Parish of Terrigal also came together for Anzac Day on Sunday 22 April for a special Anzac Day service. One of the young parishioners handed out rosemary to the congregation.


Christ Church Cathedral

The Cathedral also welcomed members of the War Widows Guild, the Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes, and representatives of the Australian Army, Royal Australian Navy, Royal Australian Airforce, RSL, and families to the Cathedral on Thursday morning for the opening of the Field of Remembrance. The Field of Remembrance is open until Thursday, when there will be a Closing Liturgy at 11am. Members of the public are invited to place a cross at any time before the Field closes. Crosses available at the Cathedral Shop.


Anzac Service This Week

Merewether

Wednesday 25th April – 10am. In this year of the centenary of the Armistace we are focussing on the Australian Army. This ANZAC day we will be talking about 36th Australian Infantry Battalion and its role in WW1.

Christ Church Cathedral

The Cathedral will also be holding Anzac Day services at 7.30am and 8.45am. The St Michael (Warrior Chapel) is open every day for prayer.
