Samaritans Christmas Day Lunches hosted in Wyong and Newcastle were a great success! The lunches provided an opportunity for those in the community who may be alone on Christmas, or have no means to celebrate, to enjoy a free lunch, entertainment and company. Guests also enjoyed a visit from Santa and presents kindly donated by sponsors!

Over 1000 plates of food were served at the Newcastle Lunch held at the Foreshore Park and over 400 people attended the lunch in Wyong.

Event Coordinator for Newcastle, Dana Pichaloff said, “The volunteers kicked into gear, tables were laid, and as our guests arrived our kitchen came to life. Food prep commenced and plates were filled; servers pushed through the crowd and delighted our many guests.

“The highlight of the day was of course the arrival of Santa much to the delight of the children. Full bellies and a gift to take home, it’s pleasing to see Samaritans continuing this tradition of sharing and giving to those less fortunate as this event is the only one of its kind still being held in the Newcastle/ Hunter community.

“With sincere thanks to our dedicated and committed sponsors, Christmas Lunch in the Park 2017 was an outstanding success enjoyed by so many in our region.”
