On Christmas Day, thousands of children in Australia open a present from their father or mother or grandparent who is not there – they are in prison.

Prison Fellowship are looking to partner with churches in sharing God’s love with families across the Central Coast/Newcastle NSW region this Christmas.

Angel Tree is an international ministry of Prison Fellowship, partnering with local churches to demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ to children and families in need.

Christmas gifts are delivered to the children of inmates, where inmates are unable to provide a gift for themselves, helping to restore damaged child-parent relationships through the separation caused by imprisonment.

Prison Fellowship is calling on supporters and friends to donate gifts, or money to buy gifts. These are then delivered to the homes of the children or given out at a prison Christmas party.

Angel Tree is a powerful programme that reaches inmates’ children with the love of Christ during this painful period of separation. Because of Angel Tree, these children experience joy — not just from the gifts, but from knowing their mother or father has not forgotten them.

We currently have gift requests for 150 families across the Central Coast/Newcastle region in the attached postcodes – can your church support this project? Prison Fellowship would love to hear from you if you have any questions or would like to discuss this further.

With your support, we hope to provide over 7000 Angel Tree gifts for more than 7000 smiling children around Australia. But we need your donation by December 17, so we have time to source, wrap and deliver all the presents!

Please turn tears into smiles for as many children as you can this Christmas – and give them the priceless gift of memories with their parent in prison!
